PyxelEdit

Pyxel Edit is a powerful pixel art drawing application created specifically for working with tiles. With Pyxel Edit, you can easily place tiles to build intricate levels, edit them in real-time to see how they interact, and then export your tileset and level data to seamlessly integrate them into your game. One unique feature of Pyxel Edit is its ability to flip and rotate tiles while keeping them fully editable and synced.

This innovation takes inspiration from renowned tools like Pixothello and Cosmigo Pro Motion and pushes the boundaries even further. In addition to tile creation, Pyxel Edit also supports animation creation, allowing you to export your animations as sprite sheets or animated GIFs. Pyxel Edit is built using Adobe Air and is compatible with both Mac and Windows operating systems.

It has also been reported to run smoothly on Linux under Wine. Originally a free program, Pyxel Edit is now transitioning to a paid model after continued development efforts to enhance its features. However, there will be a discounted beta version available to support further development.

Buyers of the beta version will receive subsequent normal-priced versions at no additional cost. Pyxel Edit is the brainchild of Daniel Kvarfordt, the dedicated developer behind this exceptional tool. For any inquiries, you can reach out to Daniel via email or connect with him on Twitter.
