The QuadPara Association of South Africa (QASA) is a nonprofit organisation representing people with spinal cord injuries and physical disabilities, particularly quadriplegics and paraplegics. Established in 1978 as a national coordinating structure, it now includes regional associations in Gauteng North, Gauteng South and the Western Cape, and has more than 3,000 members. QASA’s mission is to improve lives by securing resources to advocate, educate, build capacity, support and mobilise. Its vision is for quadriplegics and paraplegics to live to their full potential.
QASA develops programmes, services and resources to strengthen members’ abilities and support their participation in society. Its programmes include work readiness, education, a sports fund, care attendance, training, driving ambitions, road safety, and early intervention and prevention campaigns. The organisation also offers services intended to assist people with disabilities in daily life. QASA owns and publishes Rolling Inspiration, a quarterly lifestyle magazine for people with mobility impairments, available to read or download free online.
