About QCAD
QCAD is an open-source software brand offering computer-aided design tools for creating technical drawings in two dimensions. Its main product, QCAD, is available for Windows, macOS and Linux and is designed to be approachable for beginners while providing powerful drafting capabilities. Users can create plans for buildings and interiors, mechanical parts, schematics and diagrams.
The software supports layers, blocks, metric and imperial units, TrueType fonts, and DXF and DWG file import and export. It also includes tools for drawing and editing geometry, measuring, selecting objects, printing to scale, and working with raster images. A built-in library provides more than 4,800 CAD parts, while an ECMAScript scripting interface supports customization and automation.
QCAD’s product range also includes QCAD/CAM, which offers G-code export and nesting, and command-line tools for converting drawing files into formats such as PDF, SVG and BMP. Documentation, tutorials, a reference manual, a forum and a dedicated book help users learn and use the software. QCAD’s source code is released under the GPL version 3 license
