About Quaker Council for European Affairs
QCEA, short for Quaker Council for European Affairs, is an international non-profit organization based in Brussels since 1979. Rooted in the Quaker belief of peace, justice, and equality, QCEA works to bring its vision to Europe and its institutions. With a focus on humane and non-military policies, QCEA strives to build support for peaceful cooperation at the EU level.
Their work is guided by two key programs: peace and human rights. The peace program promotes non-violent conflict resolution through the concept of shared security, challenging the notion that international security can only be achieved through military means. On the other hand, the human rights program advocates for a more compassionate approach to migration and asylum policies, with a particular emphasis on overlooked areas such as child immigration detention.
As a member of various advocacy and Quaker networks, QCEA plays an active role in shaping European policies. Their headquarters, Quaker House, is an architectural gem in Brussels that doubles as a conference and meeting space for both public and private events. By embodying Quaker values, QCEA is dedicated to making a positive impact across Europe
