About Österreichische Qualitätsgeflügelvereinigung
QGV, the Österreichische Qualitätsgeflügelvereinigung, is Austria’s nationwide poultry health service, founded in 1999 and based in Tulln, Lower Austria. It brings together around 2,400 members, including veterinarians and livestock farmers from across the poultry sector. Working with its members, partner organisations, authorities and ministries, QGV aims to protect and improve the quality of eggs and poultry products while promoting the health and welfare of poultry throughout production, in line with public regulations.
A central service is Poultry Health Data (PHD), an electronic database operated by QGV since 2002. It collects, connects and processes information about poultry farms, housing units and flocks, tracking relevant veterinary and health data from placement through removal. QGV also provides information and support on poultry health and biosecurity, including salmonella, campylobacter, avian influenza, vaccination, parasites and animal welfare. Its activities include health programmes, training, farm assessments and guidance on responsible antibiotic management. The organisation shares industry updates, event information and practical resources through its website, helping members and the wider poultry community work toward quality together.
