About QuarkNet
QuarkNet is a transformative initiative dedicated to enhancing participation in America’s STEM workforce by immersing high school teachers and students in contemporary particle physics research. Established as a partnership among Fermilab, the University of Notre Dame, and a network of 50 research centers across the U.S., QuarkNet empowers educators by offering professional development and opportunities to collaborate with scientists.
The organization provides a variety of services, including the Data Activities Portfolio, which offers NGSS-aligned instructional materials, and International Masterclasses, where participants can experience the role of particle physicists firsthand. Through its e-Labs, teachers lead students in authentic data inquiries that foster deeper scientific understanding. QuarkNet also hosts coding camps and professional development sessions at leading institutions like Fermilab and CERN to equip teachers with essential skills in scientific research and education.
Supported by funding from the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Energy, QuarkNet aims to create an engaging and dynamic learning environment for educators and students alike, driving excitement and innovation in the field of physics.
