Qu’em Biarnés

Qu’em Biarnés is a historical reenactment association dedicated to bringing 13th-century Béarn to life, particularly the era of Gaston VII, whose life spanned 1220 to 1290. Founded in 2009 and based at the foot of the Pyrenees, the association is a non-profit organization with nearly fifteen members, all passionate about history. Its central aim is to recreate a seigneurial company in the medieval Béarn setting.

The group takes part in medieval festivals, public events and historical animations, sharing its portrayal of the period with visitors. Its website provides an agenda of upcoming appearances, a gallery of past outings and information about the association and its members. Qu’em Biarnés also undertakes historical research into the region, covering topics such as the vicomté of Béarn, 13th-century warfare, its princes, local laws and customs, and peasant society. Its practical projects include work on a medieval stone-throwing engine and enamel objects, including a crucifixion and a Eucharistic dove. The association welcomes people interested in the Middle Ages to learn more and join its activities.
