Quinta da Marinha Equestrian Centre is a riding and horse-sport destination in Cascais, near Lisbon, set within the Sintra-Cascais UNESCO World Heritage Natural Park. Surrounded by pine trees, sand dunes and Atlantic coastal scenery, the centre offers opportunities to ride on its estate and explore nearby routes, including the coast between Guincho and the Serra de Sintra. Guests of The Oitavos hotel can start selected rides from the hotel.
The centre provides individual and group lessons in dressage and jumping, riding-school activities, group coastal rides, pony rides, riding introductions and vaulting. Its “A Day with Horses” programme combines practical lessons, riding, horse care and games, with lunch included. Facilities include indoor and outdoor arenas, indoor lunging arenas, a show ground, paddocks, stables, a saddlery, a farrier, an equipment shop and a bar-restaurant. The centre also has a hippodrome of approximately 50,000 square metres. Horse-racing activities at Quinta da Marinha date back to 1924, with later development adding arenas, cross-country riding and polo.
