QWOCMAP, the Queer Women of Color Media Arts Project, is a nonprofit arts organization that supports queer and trans filmmakers of color and advances LBTQIA+ BIPOC storytelling. For more than 25 years, it has put creative resources, training, and care into the hands of filmmakers, using film to challenge oppression and strengthen communities, solidarity, and social justice movements.
Its year-round filmmaker development programs include the free, four-day Film & Freedom Academy, which provides equipment, mentorship, a stipend, and support to create a short film. Critical Juncture offers an 18-month fellowship with grants, mentorship, professional development, and peer learning for emerging filmmakers. QTWork creates a pathway into media careers through paid internships, production opportunities, and apprenticeships in media arts and creative technologies.
QWOCMAP also presents the International Queer Women of Color Film Festival, offers screenings and customized curatorial services, and maintains a collection of more than 500 films. Its services include organizational screenings and presentations, accessibility and inclusion consultations and training, and video production, editing, and studio support for mission-aligned clients.
