Rådgivningen Orfeus is a volunteer-run, nationwide Danish organisation offering free, confidential support to people affected by substance misuse and addiction. Its services are primarily for family members and others close to someone with a substance-use problem, but individuals experiencing problems with drugs or alcohol can also seek advice through its helpline and individual support programme.
The helpline is open weekdays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., with no appointment required. Callers can talk through concerns, ask for guidance or simply find someone willing to listen. Orfeus also provides individual support by phone, typically in a series of four conversations with a volunteer adviser, with the possibility of extending the programme when needed. Online group programmes bring together relatives in similar situations and are organised for parents, partners and adult children of people affected by substance misuse. Group conversations are facilitated by volunteer leaders and focus on participants’ experiences.
