The Rabat Process is a State-led Euro-African dialogue on migration and development, bringing together countries across Central Africa, West Africa, North Africa and Europe. It provides a forum for governments and partners to exchange knowledge, coordinate policy and strengthen cooperation on migration issues across countries of origin, transit and destination. The initiative includes 29 African countries, 28 European countries and two organisations, with more than 30 additional partners.
Through ministerial discussions, technical meetings and thematic activities, the Rabat Process supports collaboration on priorities such as preventing migrant deaths and disappearances, sustainable reintegration and development. Its work is guided by shared frameworks including the Cádiz Action Plan, and includes cooperation through the Network of National Focal Points for Missing Migrants.
The Rabat Process website offers updates on meetings and outcomes, an events calendar, publications, infographics, videos and key documents such as meeting conclusions and ministerial declarations. The process is funded by the European Union and implemented by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), which also provides contact and secretariat information.
