The Royal Air Force Sailing Association (RAFSA) provides serving and retired RAF personnel, including reservists, with opportunities to enjoy and develop skills in sailing and other watersports. Its activities cater to all ranks and abilities, from complete beginners to experienced competitors, and include dinghy sailing, windsurfing, offshore yachting, cruising, racing and powerboating.
Members can access instruction, coaching, training, equipment loans, camps and boat rental. Offshore programmes include training, expeditions, cruising and competitions aboard the association’s fleet. Dinghy sailors can progress from introductory lessons to high-performance sailing and racing, while windsurfers can build their skills or compete at national level. Powerboat courses, including Level 1 and Level 2 training, support members interested in safety work, and RAFSA’s safety boat team assists dinghy and windsurfing events.
The association also offers representative sport and inter-service competition, alongside opportunities to take part for enjoyment and meet fellow sailors. Run with the support of trustees and volunteers, RAFSA is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee in England and Wales.
