About Ragged School Museum
The Ragged School Museum is a brand that offers an immersive experience into the history of London's largest Victorian Ragged School. Established in 1877 by Dr Barnardo, this museum tells the story of providing education to some of the poorest children in the Victorian East End. Located by the Regent's Canal in the Mile End Park, the museum's former warehouses have recently undergone major refurbishment funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
With all floors accessible by lift, visitors can explore the museum's atmospheric exhibits, including the unique Victorian classroom where over 16,000 children each year get a glimpse into life from a bygone era. Additionally, there is an immersive installation called Forgotten Tale which recreates a Spitalfields home in 1902, as well as a renowned café offering outstanding food and service. The Ragged School Museum also offers a Schools Programme, designed to engage children's young minds with history and encourage imagination and creative thinking
