The Swedish-Finnish Cultural Foundation

The Finnish-Swedish Cultural Foundation is a bilateral organisation established in 1960 by decision of the governments of Finland and Sweden. Its board is appointed by the two governments, and the Foundation distributes grants and scholarships from the returns on its capital. Its work aims to strengthen cultural relations between the countries by building mutual understanding and connections. Funding is available not only for cultural activities but also for projects related to social development in Finland and Sweden, and for Nordic or international initiatives that highlight the Finnish-Swedish dimension in line with the Foundation’s purpose. Applications are submitted online through the portal for the applicant’s country of residence.

Alongside its grant programme, the Foundation initiates programmes and projects delivered in both countries in cooperation with the Swedish-Finnish Cultural Centre Hanaholmen, of which it is the principal. Its activities include initiatives such as Globsol, Hanaholmen Akademi, Hanaholmen Culture, Svenska nu and Tandem Leadership. Through funding, partnerships and programmes, the Foundation supports exchange between Finland and Sweden and contributes to broader Nordic cooperation.
