Rail Heritage WA | Perth WA

Rail Heritage WA is a brand dedicated to preserving and presenting Western Australia's rich railway heritage. Established in 1959, we were the first rail preservation group in WA. Our passionate members and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure the history of WA's railways is not forgotten.

At Rail Heritage WA, we offer a range of products and services to engage and educate the public. Visit our Railway Museum in Bassendean to explore a fascinating collection of heritage equipment and vehicles. Immerse yourself in our extensive railway archives for a deep dive into the history of the railways.

We also publish and sell railway-related publications for those looking to further their knowledge. As a major partner in the South West Rail & Heritage Centre at Boyanup, we actively lobby for the preservation and restoration of WA's rail heritage. Our dedicated volunteers are the backbone of our organization, managing all our activities and ensuring our historical projects, such as the restoration of the iconic Leschenault Lady vintage train, continue to progress.

Join us at the Model Railway Exhibition in June at the Claremont Showgrounds, where you can see our impressive Rail Heritage WA display and shop. Our friendly volunteers will be there to answer any questions you may have. Help us preserve history by donating towards the restoration of the historic diesel locomotive GM 1
