About Rainbow Railroad
Rainbow Railroad is a global not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping at-risk LGBTQI+ individuals find safety and freedom worldwide. Operating in both Canada and the United States, Rainbow Railroad assists LGBTQI+ people who face persecution due to their sexual orientation, gender identity, and sex characteristics. In a world where the number of displaced individuals continues to rise, LGBTQI+ individuals are particularly vulnerable to homophobia and transphobia.
These factors contribute to their displacement or hinder their escape from harm. Rainbow Railroad strives to provide a lifeline to LGBTQI+ individuals, enabling them to access lives free from persecution. Their comprehensive programs include emergency relocation, crisis response, cash assistance, and other forms of support.
Since their inception, they have assisted nearly 10,000 individuals in finding safety, garnering international media attention, including a feature on CBS 60 Minutes. Rainbow Railroad's history draws inspiration from the Underground Railroad, and they work in collaboration with global activists and human rights defenders. Their mission is to create a world where LGBTQI+ people can live without fear and freely choose their own path
