About Rajya Sainik Board. Govt of West Bengal
The Rajya Sainik Board, West Bengal, is a premier state-level organization dedicated to the welfare and rehabilitation of Ex-Servicemen (ESM), war widows, and their dependents. Established on March 22, 1945, during World War II, it is one of India's oldest institutions focused on military veteran support. The Board has evolved through various reconstitutions and is now a Directorate under the Department of Home & Hill Affairs, Government of West Bengal, since 1967.
The Board plays a crucial role in coordinating with the Kendriya Sainik Board and managing Zila Sainik Boards across 14 districts to provide essential services. These include post-retirement documentation, grievance redressal, and implementation of welfare policies. It also promotes skill development, re-employment opportunities, and financial assistance for pensions and medical care. With a legacy exceeding eight decades, the Rajya Sainik Board is committed to enhancing the dignity and welfare of veterans and ensuring their smooth transition into civilian life, while bridging the gap between the Armed Forces community and civil administration.
