Rakfiskfestivalen

Norsk Rakfiskfestival is one of Norway’s largest food festivals, bringing visitors to Fagernes for a lively celebration of rakfisk and Norwegian food culture. Held on the first weekend of November, the festival features three main venues: Storteltet, Lavvoen and Rakfiskteltet, alongside the Rakfiskløypa, a popular route through the town centre. More than 100 exhibitors take part, offering products ranging from traditional Norwegian foods to woollen socks and other goods.

The festival combines food, entertainment and social events across several days. Visitors can explore the festival arenas, enjoy performances by featured artists and experience the welcoming atmosphere of the Rakfiskløypa on Friday and Saturday. The programme also includes evening events known as Byfant, Tjuvstart and Etterrak. Tickets are available in advance and, subject to availability, at the entrance; festival wristbands can be collected at the entrance or Fagernes Tourist Office. Food and drink purchases in the festival tents can be paid for by bank card. The 2026 festival is scheduled for 5–7 November, with the 2027 event planned for 4–6 November.
