Rákosliget

Rákosliget Almanach is an electronic local-history collection devoted to Rákosliget, a district of Budapest, and the communities and events that have shaped it. The website brings together historical writing, photographs, postcards, documents, maps, and research references, making a broad range of material accessible to visitors interested in the area’s past. Its coverage extends from the settlement’s beginnings and early years through the twentieth century and into the period after 1989.

Topics include local schools, churches, businesses, public services, transport, sport, cultural life, and the two world wars, alongside biographies, newspapers, election records, and memorials. The collection also features an image gallery, historical timelines, and a searchable directory of nearly 1,500 people who lived in Rákosliget, with a map-based view. Further sections explore neighbouring Rákosmente communities, archaeology, literature, and the development of Budapest. By gathering and organizing local sources in one place, Rákosliget Almanach serves as a digital reference for residents, researchers, and anyone curious about the history of the area.
