About RAL Deutsches Institut für Gütesicherung und Kennzeichnung e.V.
Founded in 1925, RAL is a German expert in quality marks, colour standards and trusted product and service labelling. Based in Bonn, it helps consumers, businesses, industry and public bodies make informed choices by making quality and verified standards visible. RAL develops and administers independent labelling systems, working with relevant stakeholders to define criteria and ensuring certification is awarded only when requirements are met. Ongoing market monitoring and action against misuse help protect the credibility of its marks.
RAL’s services span several business areas. RAL Gütezeichen identifies products and services that meet defined quality standards, with 149 marks across diverse sectors. RAL Farben provides more than 2,500 standardised colour shades for professional use in design, architecture, industry and trades. Through RAL Umwelt, the organisation awards the Blue Angel and EU Ecolabel on behalf of the German federal government and European Commission. RAL Logo Lizenz manages licensing and monitoring for marks including the Stiftung Warentest test logo and Nutri-Score.
