Ramilo Wines is a family wine producer rooted in the coastal landscapes between Colares and Mafra, Portugal. The family’s winemaking tradition spans four generations, and in 2013 brothers Pedro and Nuno Ramilo joined the business, choosing to continue that heritage in their own way. Their vineyards stretch from the historic Colares region, north of the Sintra mountains, to the slopes of the Lizandro River valley near Mafra. Atlantic breezes, morning mists, cool nights and warm afternoons shape the growing conditions and contribute to the freshness and ripeness of the grapes.
The family farms at Casal do Ramilo in the Lizandro valley, where steep limestone slopes frame the vineyards, and at Quinta do Cameijo in Colares. There, ungrafted vines grow close to the ground in sandy soils exposed to salty winds and a humid, often cloudy climate. Working these challenging vineyards is largely artisanal. Ramilo Wines produces wines connected to its family and place, and welcomes visitors to discover the vineyards and wines.
