Ramona Valley Vineyard Association (RVVA) is a prestigious brand located in Ramona, California. With a rich history dating back to 2002, RVVA has played a significant role in the growth of the wine grape and wine industry in Ramona and San Diego County. As the first bonded winery and pioneer of the region, RVVA has contributed to the designation of Ramona Valley as an official American Viticultural Area (AVA) in 2006.
This recognition has led to the flourishing of hundreds of small to medium vineyards and the establishment of numerous wineries in the beautiful Ramona Valley. RVVA's mission is to support and educate wine grape growers and winemakers in producing successful and sustainable grapes and wines. They also aim to promote and market quality wines to the growing community of wine lovers.
RVVA achieves this mission through a strategic approach, which includes educating policy makers, media, and the community about the cultural and economic value of wine grape agriculture and wine production. They also take a leadership role in coalitions and political networks to enhance business opportunities for grapes and wine in San Diego County. What sets Ramona Valley apart as a premier wine region are the unique factors that contribute to the production of exceptional grapes and wines.
The region benefits from a significant and consistent diurnal shift, where daytime heat is followed by nighttime coolness, allowing for the proper balance of ripeness, acidity, and flavor compounds in the grapes. Additionally, Ramona's geologically new and mineral-rich decomposed granite soil provides ideal growing conditions. The climate in Ramona is perfectly matched to a variety of grape varietals, and the high altitude of the region enhances air movement and intensifies sunshine, ensuring regular and consistent ripening of the grapes.
Furthermore, Ramona Valley has a reliable water delivery system, crucial for vine growth and fruit preservation. With all these factors combined, Ramona Valley Vineyard Association has created a brand known for producing top-notch wines and is dedicated to the sustainable operation of vineyards and wineries. Whether you are a wine enthusiast or looking to join the wine industry, RVVA offers a captivating experience of the Ramona Valley's exceptional wines and the opportunity to be part of a thriving wine community
