The Rape Recovery Center, known as RRC, has been a critical leader in supporting survivors of sexual trauma since its inception in 1974. Founded by Ronald E. Clark, Sheila P.
Kearney, and M. S. Pendleton, the RRC has been dedicated to ending sexual violence and providing crucial resources to survivors.
Over the years, the center has evolved to offer comprehensive recovery services, including a 24-hour crisis line, short and long-term counseling, therapy and support groups, and a Mobile Response Team. In addition, the RRC is actively engaged in community outreach and education, reaching approximately 40,000 individuals annually. Under the leadership of Abby Maestas-Trujillo, the center was renamed to the Rape Recovery Center to symbolize hope for recovery and has continued to expand its impact.
Today, the RRC remains a vital resource in Salt Lake County, assisting nearly 800 survivors annually and continuing to be at the forefront of combating sexual violence
