About Rapunzel Foundation
The Rapunzel Foundation is an Irish charity founded in 2010 by Anna Furlong in New Ross, County Wexford. It supports children and adults living with long-term hair loss, helping them access practical solutions that can restore comfort, confidence, and a sense of normality. The Foundation provides wigs free of charge, including Freedom Wigs, and offers partial financial assistance for wigs, mesh integration, and other essential hair-loss solutions.
Freedom Wigs are designed for a secure, comfortable, natural-looking fit, helping wearers take part in everyday activities, including swimming and play. The charity funds its work through monetary contributions and donated ponytails of at least 14 inches, which are sent to wig makers for processing. Many ponytail donations may be needed to make one wig, depending on the hair’s quality and suitability.
The Foundation relies on community generosity and volunteers, and receives no government funding. Founded by Anna Furlong, it is now operationally led by Danielle Kennedy of The Collective by Lloyds Hair Salons.
