About Rare Cancers Japan
Rare Cancers Japan (RCJ) is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to improving the circumstances of patients suffering from rare cancers, which collectively represent around 20% of all cancer cases despite their individual rarity. RCJ actively engages in research to uncover genetic anomalies associated with these tumors, aiming to foster drug development initiatives both domestically and globally. The organization strives to create a society where rare cancer patients and their families can live with dignity and security.
Key initiatives include the Rare Cancer Awareness Month held every February, which aims to enhance public understanding and support for these conditions, as well as various community events such as the Rare Cancer Community Open Day and the Rare Cancer Caravan. Through policy advocacy, educational programs, and active community engagement, RCJ seeks to raise awareness, share patient experiences, and address unmet medical needs in the realm of rare cancers. Their mission emphasizes the importance of respect and hope for all those affected by these conditions
