RAUMTAKT is a Zurich-based architecture and interior design studio focused on transforming and extending existing buildings. Its approach, described as “building on what is there,” begins with the structural core of a building and develops through to the arrangement and character of its spaces. The studio aims to preserve valuable features while creating practical, contemporary places that respond to people, the climate and their local context.
RAUMTAKT’s work includes renovations, conversions, extensions, interior architecture and project development for residential and commercial clients. Its projects range from updating historic townhouses and family homes to creating flexible offices, including workplaces for Monami, South Pole and Aquila Capital. Depending on each building, interventions can involve spatial reorganisation, energy improvements, structural repairs, roof conversions and the reuse of materials. The studio also undertakes feasibility studies for sensitive redevelopment and densification. Across its work, RAUMTAKT seeks to make existing structures useful for the future, balancing architectural care with modern living and working needs.
