About Ravenglass Railway
Welcome to Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, one of the oldest and longest narrow gauge railways in the world, located in the picturesque Lake District. Established between 1873-1875, it was the first public narrow gauge railway in England and has become a cherished heritage site. Situated within the Lake District National Park and Frontiers of the Roman Empire, our main terminus at Ravenglass offers a unique experience.
Our fleet of heritage steam and diesel engines takes passengers on a scenic seven-mile journey to Dalegarth for Boot, a charming village 210 ft above sea level. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of the coastal estuary, ancient woodlands, and the stunning England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike. Upgrade to First Class or opt for the special Pullman Observation Carriage 'Joan' for an exquisite experience.
At Dalegarth, explore enchanting walks, visit the Railway Museum, indulge in homemade treats, and shop for memorable gifts. Whether you're a railway enthusiast or looking for a fun family outing, Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway is a must-visit destination. Book your tickets now and share your experience with #LaalRatty
