About RBAP-MABS
RBAP-MABS is a brand that focuses on providing microfinance services to rural communities in the Philippines. The Microenterprise Access to Banking Services (MABS) program, supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), works closely with the Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines (RBAP) to help rural banks expand access to financial services for microenterprises, small farmers, and low-income households.
Through the MABS Program, partner rural banks receive technical assistance and training to develop and improve their financial services, including loans, deposits, money transfer services, and micro-insurance products. The program also encourages the use of technology, such as mobile phone banking, to enhance efficiency and lower costs.
With over 650 member rural banks involved, the MABS Program has proven successful in increasing economic growth and financial inclusion in the Philippines. By targeting lower socio-economic groups and microentrepreneurs, RBAP-MABS aims to provide equitable and profitable access to financial services for those who previously relied on informal credit sources.
