The Union for the Protection of Birds of Russia is a nationwide public organization dedicated to conserving bird diversity and populations across Russia. It brings together people and organizations interested in birds and supports public awareness and education about their protection. More than 6,000 members from Russia, other CIS countries and beyond belong to the Union, alongside 26 public associations; regional branches operate in 66 Russian regions.

The Union organizes conservation campaigns and public activities, including Bird of the Year, spring bird meetings, nightingale evenings, bird-feeding initiatives, seasonal observation days and bird counts. It also develops projects and hosts events and conferences, with opportunities to submit proposals to project competitions. Its website provides news, press releases, a bird photo gallery, forums, blogs and resources for teachers and bird enthusiasts. Reference materials include bird lists, guidance on bird rescue and rehabilitation, information on habitats and birdwatching, and publications for ornithologists. The Union publishes the informational journal World of Birds and connects visitors with partners and an online shop.
