Mount Sinai’s Respectful and Equitable Access to Comprehensive Healthcare (REACH) Program is a patient-centered initiative within the health system’s Internal Medicine Associates in New York City. It provides comprehensive, stigma-free primary care for people who use alcohol or other drugs and for individuals living with hepatitis C virus (HCV). Its multidisciplinary, harm reduction approach includes office-based buprenorphine treatment, care for alcohol and opioid use disorders, HCV testing and treatment, psychiatric evaluation, and psychosocial support. Patients can receive care in person or by telehealth, with patient navigators helping coordinate services and address barriers to treatment.
REACH also offers free virtual and in-person support groups, overdose response training, and free naloxone kits. Through community partnerships, it provides HCV education, antibody testing, confirmatory testing, and links to appropriate care. The program conducts clinical research, develops educational resources, trains health care providers, and advocates for policies that advance health equity. Services are available to people who are not English-speaking, and most insurance plans are accepted.
