Reading Queer

Reading Queer, founded by Neil de la Flor and Paula Kolek, is dedicated to elevating Miami as a vibrant hub for queer literature and culture. This organization preserves and promotes literary expression within the queer community through an array of engaging events and initiatives. Notable projects include the RQ Literary Festival, the first queer-centric literary festival in South Florida, and the RQ Writing Academy, which hosts workshops designed to cultivate the talents of queer writers and artists in the region.

Additionally, Reading Queer offers the RQ – O Cinema Literary/Film Salon Series for exploring the cultural impact of queer cinema, as well as the RQ Archive, an online platform showcasing diverse South Florida queer voices. Committed to inclusivity, all events are open to the public, ensuring a safe space for marginalized communities, regardless of background. By championing diverse narratives and fostering community dialogue, Reading Queer not only enriches individual lives but also aims to challenge misconceptions about queerness, making literature a vital tool for empowerment and social change.
