About Reading Rockets
Reading Rockets is a national public media literacy initiative that provides resources and information on how young children learn to read and how adults can support their journey. With a goal to bring the best research-based strategies to parents, educators, librarians, and childcare providers, Reading Rockets offers a wide range of free resources. Their website features hundreds of articles, classroom strategies, video interviews with top children's book authors, in-classroom videos, parent tips in multiple languages, a daily news service, and more.
They also offer a self-paced course called Reading 101: A Guide to Teaching Reading and Writing for pre-K to grade 3 teachers. Through their Launching Young Readers series, hosted by well-known figures like Fred Rogers and Rita Moreno, Reading Rockets brings the stages of reading to life using the power of public TV. As an education initiative of WETA, the flagship public television and radio station in the nation's capital, Reading Rockets has been recognized for its excellence in promoting literacy, receiving the David M.
Rubenstein Prize in 2016. By donating to Reading Rockets, you can contribute to their mission of helping all children become strong and confident readers
