Ready Set Prep Mooloolaba

Ready Set Prep Mooloolaba is an early learning program that helps children aged three to five prepare for their first year of formal schooling. Developed with insights from international examples, the program offers school readiness classes in a safe, home-like setting. Its sessions are designed to complement kindergarten, not replace it, and introduce children to a supportive, small-group classroom experience.

Each two-hour class includes interactive literacy and numeracy activities tailored to children’s developmental stages. Learning focuses on pre-reading skills such as phonological awareness and vocabulary; pre-writing skills including motor development, pencil grip and letter formation; and early numeracy, including counting and number recognition. Children also practise listening, turn-taking, sharing, organisation and following instructions, while building confidence, resilience and emotional regulation.

Groups are generally capped at eight children, with a teacher and teaching assistant supporting each class. A short snack break encourages social conversation. Families receive weekly email updates about learning and ways to extend it at home.
