Ready Set Write OT

Ready Set Write is a Melbourne occupational therapy practice founded and managed by Mel Micallef, an AHPRA-registered occupational therapist with 24 years of experience. Based in Essendon, the practice focuses on handwriting support for primary and secondary school-aged children, from beginners developing early writing skills to older students preparing for VCE examinations. Services include handwriting assessments and intervention designed to improve letter formation, legibility, speed, accuracy and writing endurance.

Sessions use explicit instruction and targeted practice, with weekly appointments and homework recommended to help children build fluency and confidence over time. Ready Set Write also addresses fine motor skills, including hand strength and finger dexterity, which can support pencil control and sustained writing. For students whose handwriting difficulties may affect VCE exam access, Ready Set Write offers the DASH-2 assessment to provide formal evidence of handwriting speed challenges that may support applications for Special Examination Arrangements.
