Realms

Realms is a brand that offers a comprehensive program called SPL Governance. This program's chief purpose is to provide core building blocks and primitives for creating Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) on the Solana blockchain. It is versatile and agnostic, allowing for the creation of various types of DAOs that can own and manage any type of assets.

The SPL Governance program features an open/close architecture, allowing customization through external plugins. For instance, the default implementation of the program involves token deposits in exchange for voting power, but this can be customized to include token locking, token escrows, NFT voting, or multi-token governance structures. The program supports two deployment models: a DAO-owned instance and a shared instance.

The DAO-owned instance grants full control to the DAO, enabling it to change and upgrade the program. In cases where deploying an owned instance isn't practical, the shared instance can be used. Realms also offers two user-friendly UIs, Realms Explorer and Governance UI, showcasing the program's capabilities.

Realms' SPL Governance program provides program accounts including Realm accounts, Program Governance accounts, Mint Governance accounts, and Token Governance accounts. These accounts allow for the setup and management of governance over various entities such as community tokens, mint accounts, and token accounts. With Realms' SPL Governance program, users can create and vote on proposals tied to specific governance accounts.

Proposals go through different states (draft, voting, executing, etc. ) and can include executable instructions. The program ensures the authority to execute instructions is given by the governance account tied to the proposal.
