Real Vancouver

Real Vancouver is an independent literary organization and creative space in Vancouver, established in 2010. Describing itself as a home for literary rebels, it promotes Canadian literature through inclusive, carefully curated programming that brings emerging and established writers together on the same stage. Its quarterly Reading Series features authors and literary events, offered both online and in person, giving audiences opportunities to discover a range of voices and work.

Real Vancouver also runs a Writing School, with small, immersive workshops held four times a year for people looking to develop their writing. The organization highlights authors across fiction, poetry, and nonfiction, and helps readers find independent bookstores through its bookstore locator. Its quarterly RVQ+ newsletter shares interviews, commentary, opinions, and other literary content. Donations support the events and help provide writers with resources, mentorship, and opportunities to grow their craft. Real Vancouver also acknowledges the Indigenous peoples whose unceded territories it occupies and states a commitment to reconciliation and a more equitable society.
