Extinction Rebellion (XR) is a global environmental movement that emerged in 2018 in response to the Climate and Nature Emergency. With a mission to compel those in power to take urgent action against climate change, XR leverages campaigns and Nonviolent Direct Action as their primary strategies. The movement operates through a network of over 1,080 groups across more than 40 countries, uniting people from diverse backgrounds who are dedicated to preserving the planet for future generations.

At the heart of XR's approach are three core demands: to tell the truth about the climate crisis, to act now to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and to foster democratic participation through Citizens’ Assemblies for climate justice. Members engage in a variety of roles, from organizing peaceful protests to creating educational materials and advocating for policy changes. XR promotes a regenerative culture that values inclusivity and collective action, believing that ordinary people can drive significant change and hold powerful corporations and governments accountable.
