Rebuilding Nature

Rebuilding Nature is a UK cross-sector alliance working to make nature a critical part of the country’s infrastructure and investment plans. Its members aim to restore ecosystems in ways that support people, climate resilience and prosperity, while helping deliver existing national and international nature and climate targets. The alliance is developing a Strategic Nature Network, a proposed connected framework for nature recovery, and identifies Natural Investment Zones as building blocks for that network.

Its work focuses on restarting natural processes and promoting investment in ecosystem restoration. Areas of activity include regenerative agriculture, land-use planning, collective investment, payments for ecosystem services, biodiversity net gain, nutrient neutrality, carbon and public spending. Rebuilding Nature also explores voluntary biodiversity initiatives and shares publications, news and blogs.

The organisation convenes a board, steering committee, advisory group, members and supporters, and invites others to join its effort. Its approach reflects the view that restoring native habitats and healthy ecosystems can help address biodiversity loss, contribute to natural climate solutions and strengthen communities’ ability to adapt to climate change. The alliance presents this work as a practical way to support a healthier, more resilient future
