Recovery Starts is an independent recovery awareness project offering free readings, meeting information, and tools for people exploring recovery. Its resources are not affiliated with any fellowship, and the site emphasizes that it does not provide medical advice or replace professional care. Visitors can read a daily reflection, follow a monthly tradition series, and access the Alcoholics Anonymous Big Book in a page-by-page library with search. The site also explains the 12 Steps, 12 Traditions, and 12 Concepts, provides introductory AA information, and helps users find in-person and online meetings across nine fellowships.

Recovery Starts features Recovery Einstein, an AI Big Book companion available through its app for users who want to discuss the book’s ideas. The site’s reading and search tools are free and require no account; AI chat is offered through the app. Other services include meeting submissions, app access, and donations to help keep the resources free.
