Recreative Natives

Recreative Natives is a small, woman-owned native plant nursery in Cropwell, Alabama, specializing in plants indigenous to Alabama and the Southeast. The nursery propagates native plants and collects its own locally adapted, or ecotype, seeds to help increase the biodiversity of native flora. Its plants are pesticide-free, and its mission is to make native species more accessible for home landscapes while supporting the wildlife that depends on them, including pollinators.

Recreative Natives encourages gardeners to choose native plants as a practical way to support environmental conservation. Native landscaping can benefit local species while offering homeowners reduced maintenance and potential savings in time and money. Customers can explore available plants, consult resources such as a host plant list and frequently asked questions, and contact the nursery to ask about particular plants. The nursery also offers gift cards for native plant enthusiasts. Visitors are welcome during seasonal Saturday hours from April through November, or by scheduled appointment; winter visits are by appointment only.
