Red Bird Ski Club is a ski club founded in 1928 by McGill graduates W.B. (Bill) Thompson, Stirling Maxwell and Harry Pangman, together with McGill mentors Colonel Wilfred Bovey and D. Stuart Forbes. The founders aimed to preserve their connection with McGill, continue skiing together and help train future members of the McGill Ski Team. From the outset, the club’s purpose has been to promote skiing across its disciplines, including jumping, cross-country, downhill and slalom racing, and to encourage the development of university ski teams.
The club also set out to provide and maintain facilities and accommodations in the Laurentian Mountains. Its website offers information about the organization’s history, board of directors, news and events, and a blog, alongside membership details and partner information. Visitors can explore room options, make reservations, consult a calendar, view a 3D tour and sign the guest book. Red Bird Ski Club brings together its heritage, support for skiing and mountain accommodations in a community centered on the sport.
