Friedhelm Redlich

Friedhelm Redlich is a Münster-based author whose work explores family history, personal memory, and the forces that shape people’s lives. Born in 1964, he came to writing after a varied career that included laboratory training, later study in International Management, and professional experience in process improvement and change management. His long-standing interest in genealogy began after a trip to Vietnam in 2009. Since then, he has built a family tree with more than 4,000 entries and traced some branches back to the seventeenth century.

Redlich’s first book, “Mama, Mama, der Papa!”, draws on his research into his father and grandfather. It examines family secrets, wartime experiences, and the consequences of decisions made amid circumstances beyond people’s control, including his father’s service with the French Foreign Legion in Indochina.
