Redlinefest

The Red Line Book Festival brings readers, writers and communities together for a week of stories, ideas and shared experiences across South Dublin County. Its 2026 programme runs from 12 to 18 October, with more than 40 events hosted in libraries, theatres and cultural spaces. Uniquely curated by librarians, the festival offers author conversations, performances, workshops and family events for a range of interests and ages.

The programme features bestselling writers, poets, historians, broadcasters and performers discussing their work and ideas. Highlights include conversations with Cecelia Ahern, Sarah Waters, Louise O’Neill and Ardal O’Hanlon, alongside crime-fiction events, poetry evenings and live theatre and spoken word. Visitors can also take part in practical writing workshops, explore history and fiction, and enjoy events for children and families. The festival includes a songwriting programme, with songwriter in residence Bríd Lyons presenting new music created by participants. With events spread across the county and formats ranging from intimate discussions to stage performances, Red Line Book Festival offers opportunities to discover new voices, engage with stories and connect with the local community.
