About Redmap Australia
Redmap, which stands for Range Extension Database and Mapping project, is an innovative online platform designed to engage the Australian community in the exploration and documentation of marine species. By inviting citizens to spot, log, and map marine life that is uncommon in Australia, Redmap fosters a collaborative effort to enhance our understanding of marine biodiversity and adaptation to changing environments.
The platform allows users to create accounts, report sightings, and access a wealth of resources, including scientific data, videos, and newsletters. Redmap covers different Australian states, including New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, and Western Australia, encouraging community participation in marine observation. The project also highlights recent sightings and trends, offering insights into species like the Eastern rock lobster and Southern Ribbonfish. Funded by leading institutes and supported by a dedicated team of scientists, Redmap strengthens citizen science initiatives and raises awareness of Australia's unique marine ecosystems. Join the community and contribute to marine conservation efforts today!
