About Red Umbrella Fund
Red Umbrella Fund is the first and only global fund dedicated to supporting the rights of sex workers. Established in 2012, it was created to address the lack of funding available for sex workers' rights organizing. As a sex worker-led and participatory fund, Red Umbrella Fund operates based on its core values of autonomy and ownership.
The fund's primary mission is to strengthen and ensure the sustainability of the global sex workers' rights movement. It achieves this by catalyzing new funding specifically for sex worker-led groups and national and regional networks. Red Umbrella Fund provides support to community-led organizations and networks that strive to ensure that sex workers' rights are respected as human beings and as workers.
With the goal of enabling sex workers to live lives free from criminalization, stigma, and violence, Red Umbrella Fund is guided by values such as autonomy and the belief that sex work is work. By opposing criminalization and all forms of discrimination against sex workers, Red Umbrella Fund aims to create a more inclusive and just society
