The Quebec Metastatic Breast Cancer Registry is a research initiative launched in 2021 by the scientific committee of the McPeak-Sirois Group, under the leadership of Dr. Sarkis Meterissian. Its mission is to build research infrastructure that supports a better understanding of metastatic breast cancer and helps improve clinical practice and care in Quebec.
Developed in partnership with Quebec’s Ministry of Health and Social Services and the Direction nationale du Programme québécois de cancérologie, the registry began as a pilot project involving three hospitals: the McGill University Health Centre, the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal, and CHU de Québec–Université Laval. Since 2023, other McPeak-Sirois member hospitals across the province have been able to join. The registry aims to recruit people diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer and gather information that can support research, clinical studies, and improved access to trial protocols, including for patients outside major urban centres.
The organization also provides information for patients, participating centres, and researchers, and shares research updates and public event news through its newsletter
