CREBA is a French resource centre dedicated to the responsible thermal and energy renovation of traditional buildings. It helps construction professionals and other project stakeholders address energy performance alongside heritage protection and technical requirements. Its audience includes architects, project managers, engineering consultancies, craftspeople, specifiers, technicians, experts and researchers, as well as people involved in renovation or restoration projects.
The centre brings together practical guidance, publications and tools to support a comprehensive approach, from building assessment and design choices through to implementation. Resources include the CREBA charter, the OPERA tools, a French adaptation of the Guidance Wheel featuring more than 50 possible measures, and a glossary of terminology related to traditional buildings and energy renovation. CREBA also offers a MOOC on designing responsible energy renovations, alongside professional events, webinars and publications. Its collection of project case studies illustrates how heritage, energy and technical considerations can be integrated in practice. By sharing methods, examples and expertise, CREBA aims to improve the quality of renovation work on older buildings and help professionals make informed, responsible choices.
