About Relay Rats
Relay Rats is a pixel-art character and mining project built for Arc Mainnet, where participants use CPU or GPU computing power to search for valid proof-of-work hashes and earn a chance to mint a Rat. Each character is generated from a seed with six traits: background, fur, headwear, eyewear, mouth accessory, and clothing. Rats share a Pipe Key, while their individual artwork and style vary.
The project’s browser-based app manages the mining search, displays the current mint price, and lets users review gas costs and confirm transactions through a compatible wallet. Mining uses Keccak-256, and discoveries are probabilistic: more completed hashes improve the chance of finding a valid proof but do not guarantee one. The collection expands through cohorts that grow from eight Rats, doubling with each new cohort.
Relay Rats also outlines future features, including USDC rent claims for eligible living Rats, conversion of Rats into $RELAY, and The Pipes, a planned routing product.
