The service supports correspondence games as well as live and rapid chess, including standard chess and Chess960, also known as Fischer Random Chess. Players can use the website or the platform’s own client program to take part.

Members can join tournaments and competitions, browse ongoing and completed events, search for games, issue challenges, and follow player ratings and league standings. Tournament options include formats for different skill levels and playing preferences, such as rapid, Chess960, and no-engine events. The site also provides tools for analysing positions, exploring openings, reviewing statistics, and studying chess.

The client includes time management, professional notation, a workspace for analysing positions and testing combinations, email updates, and the ability to save games as PGN files. Beyond playing, users can meet other chess enthusiasts to discuss games or chat, and participate in the community forum. remoteSchach also offers membership with additional features, alongside information about pricing, registration, and support.
