Renseikan

Renseikan Dojo is a full-time martial arts school based at the Zen Living Martial Arts Centre in Pickering, Ontario. It offers instruction in three traditional disciplines: Shorin-Ryu Karate, Yoshinkan Aikido, and Shindo Muso Ryu Jodo. Classes teach basic and advanced martial arts skills, with a self-defense component in each discipline. The dojo serves students from Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, and Oshawa in the Durham Region, as well as Scarborough and east Toronto.

Led by chief instructor Ward Jardine, who has taught in the area for 25 years, Renseikan emphasizes traditional, non-competitive training. Students are encouraged to progress at their own pace, with personal development valued more highly than rank. Classes are structured so beginners can train comfortably alongside students at intermediate and advanced levels. The school welcomes adults and children, and offers family classes for parents and children interested in training together, along with a family rate. Prospective students can consult the class schedule and try a class to see whether the dojo is a good fit.
